This is a set of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale from the Czech publisher ROP o.s. It is not an aircraft model but an aftermarket set of markings for building a model of the Grumman Martlet II fighter. Martlet was the British name for the American Wildcat in service with the Fleet Air Arm; the release focuses on machines in British naval colors and markings.
The Martlet II corresponded to the American F4F-4 with folding wings and the Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp radial engine. The Fleet Air Arm operated it from land bases as well as from the decks of escort carriers, where it protected convoys. It was a rugged and reliable carrier fighter.
The decals are intended for commonly available plastic Wildcat and Martlet models in 1:48 scale. Apply them over a smooth gloss clear coat so that silvering does not occur; decal softeners help them settle. Finish by unifying the surface with a matte or satin varnish.
