The accessory represents a water pump in an industrial form in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of a vehicle or an aircraft - it is a separate diorama object that is added to a finished scene. From the urban and the rustic variants it differs in a sturdier, purposeful shape without ornament, of the kind that matches a factory yard, a depot, workshop premises or a storage compound.
An industrial pump belongs to a working setting - by the wall of a workshop, by a ramp, by a railway station or in the corner of a paved area where the draw-off point used to be. In a diorama it works as a small technical detail that hints that the space serves work, not living. It goes well with concrete surfaces, barrels, crates and equipment standing idle. Add a drainage channel or a grating to the scene, and perhaps traces of water having been drawn repeatedly.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent, cut the casting blocks off and level the area. Apply a primer - on an industrial object a darker base is rewarding, as the following coats come out well on it. Build the metal finish up thinly and then break it up: fine chipping with a sponge or a thin brush along the edges, a dark wash into the joints and the fittings, horizontal running beneath the outlet. Do not make the rust cover the whole area but put it in streaks and patches where the damp would have lingered. Suggest limescale deposits around the outlet with very fine light stippling. Dust the lower part with a pigment and make the oil stains on the ground with a drop of a glossy dark shade over a narrow area. Unify the whole with a matte varnish and bring the gloss back only where there would be water or oil - the contrast of matte and glossy surfaces is the main thing with technical objects.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
