Me 262 A-1a BASIC 1:48 mask set (New Ware)

The basic form of the mask set in 1:48 scale for the model of the Me 262 A-1a fighter. The masks are cut from self-adhesive film and are applied to the glazing, which is then sprayed together with the surrounding camouflage. It is the simplest way to bring the cockpit frames up to the same quality as the rest of the model.

The canopy is divided into several flat panes and the sliding section has a pronounced frame. In 1:48 the width of a frame works out at just under a millimeter, so even a small deviation in the cut shows in the result. A cut mask holds that width exactly and, above all, equally on both sides of the cockpit, which is hard to achieve by hand.

Painting tips

• First overspray the frames in the interior shade and only then in the outer coat. From the inside, no bare plastic then shows.
• The transition between the mask and the plastic can be sealed with a thin coat of clear varnish; the paint then has no way under it.
• Spray camouflage with soft transitions from a distance; a nozzle held close drives paint under the edge of the mask.
• Take the mask off with the tip of a knife or a toothpick rather than a fingernail, so as not to scratch the finish.
• Store any unused parts of the sheet flat in their wrapper, as a wavy film no longer adheres well.

Who the set is for

For modelers building this type who want crisp frames without slow masking. The basic form is also suitable as a first experience with cut masks, because there are not many parts and where they go is clear at first glance. Anyone who already uses masks will appreciate above all that the measuring falls away and that both sides of the cockpit come out the same.

The package holds only the mask set. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
