A photo-etched set of seat harness belts for the McDonnell-Douglas AV-8A Harrier in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Eduard, in the steel treatment and the late version of the belts. It is an accessory for the cockpit of a plastic kit, not a model in its own right.

This is not a model of an aircraft but a detail accessory for the cockpit. The photo-etched set brings the pilot's seat harness belts for the McDonnell-Douglas AV-8A Harrier in 1:48 scale, and that in the late treatment. It is made by Eduard, a Czech maker from Obrnice near Most, which has long specialized in photo-etched accessories for plastic modelers.
The designation of steel in the name is not just a note about material. Brass photo-etch springs partly back to its original shape after bending, whereas steel sheet keeps its shape. A belt can therefore be folded over the edge of a seat, left to hang loose or folded the way it would lie in a real cockpit. The seat then looks believable even without a pilot figure, which is useful especially on a model with an open canopy.
Cut the parts out of the fret with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface; never break them out. Lead the bends over the edge of a steel ruler or in a photo-etch bender. Steel belts are glued to plastic with superglue, that is with cyanoacrylate, or with a special glue for photo-etch; ordinary modeling glue for plastic does not hold on metal. If the parts are printed from manufacture, do not spray paint over them — once glued on it is enough to bring them out finely with a thin wash in the recesses. Work with tweezers with smooth jaws, so that the small parts do not fly away.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit. The package does not contain a model, paints or glue.
