A set of masks for painting the cockpit glazing frames on a Bell P-39Q Airacobra model. According to the name it contains masks for the outer and the inner side and is cut for the Arma Hobby kit in 1:48 scale.
The Airacobra has no sliding cockpit canopy but fixed glazing with doors in the sides of the fuselage, through which the pilot got in as into a car. The cockpit can therefore be seen into close up and the frame of the glazing is in view from the inner side. An inner frame sprayed in the color of the interior is one of the details by which a well-built model is recognized. The Airacobra had its engine placed behind the pilot and the drive shaft ran forward under the cockpit floor to the propeller, a layout that gave the machine its unmistakable shape.
Proceed in this order: apply the inner masks first, spray the frames in the interior shade, set the part into the fuselage, and only then fit the outer masks and spray the camouflage of the whole aircraft. Wash and degrease the area before applying them; fingerprints on the glazing will not disappear under paint. Press the edges of the masks down with a wooden stick and spray several thin coats. Take the masks off with tweezers as soon as the paint has set, and pull them at a sharp angle along the surface, not straight up.
The package contains masks only. The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
