The seventh set from the range of supplementary parts for ship models in 1:700 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Pit-Road. Its contents are small plastic components that replace or complete the equipment of a kit. The package contains no ship model and no hull; it assumes that you already have the basic kit.
Supplementary sets of this kind solve two problems at once. First they refine the detail where the molding in a kit is simplified for production reasons, and second they make it possible to adapt a model to the specific form a ship had in a particular period. The extent of their use therefore depends on which ship and which year you are building. The specific contents of the package, and which kits the set is directly intended for, are stated on the box.
With parts of symmetrical construction, watch the axis and the vertical. Align a part once glued on with the surrounding elements before the glue sets, and check it both from above and from the side, because a detail set crooked shows on a finished model more than a missing part. Gluing onto an already painted surface is ordinary practice, but the joint holds less well: in that case it helps to scrape the point of contact lightly back to bare plastic, or to use cyanoacrylate glue. Transitions and tweezer marks on the finish can then be touched in with a fine brush.
The set is an accessory for a kit, not a model in its own right. It is supplied unpainted; glue and paints are not included in the package.
