A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale for a model of the light Mi-2 helicopter in the configuration of a police air service. This is an accessory to a finished model, not a kit; there are no plastic or resin parts in the package. Police machines wear contrasting stripes and striking lettering, so the sheet substantially changes the overall look of a model compared with an ordinary military scheme.
The Mi-2 is a light twin-engine helicopter of Soviet design whose series production was concentrated in Poland. Thanks to its pair of turboshaft engines and simple maintenance it became a universal machine for carrying people, medical flights, agricultural work and public order and police service. In civil and police roles it flew for decades and was one of the most widespread helicopters of its class in central Europe. The police configuration differs from the others above all in its color treatment and additional equipment.
The main pitfall of this kind of marking is the long straight stripes on a curved fuselage. A stripe has to settle first time, because on a second shift it stretches and loses its straightness. It helps to mark a guide line in advance with a pencil or thin tape and to lay the decal against it from the top down. In the places where the fuselage goes into a rounded shape, apply the softener in sections and let it work, so that the film pulls in gradually rather than all at once. Place the lettering according to the scheme in the instructions and check the symmetry by looking from the front and from above, not only from the side. Once it is dry and sealed with a clear coat, a fine wash into the panel lines is enough; heavy dirtying does not suit police machines, which tend to be well kept.
This is an accessory to a model. The kit itself, the paints and the clear coats are not included in the package.
