Percival Vega Gull (civil registration) is a plastic kit of the British cabin airplane of the 1930s in 1:48 scale from Dora Wings. The boxing is aimed at machines in civil registrations.

An injection-molded short-run kit in 1:48 scale. The subject is the Percival Vega Gull, a British single-engine cabin low-wing monoplane of the second half of the 1930s, in its civil form, as the designation of the boxing also suggests. Dora Wings cut their molds with fine engraved detail and with collectors of less usual types in mind; the model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Vega Gull grew out of the earlier Gull series and offered a roomier cabin for four people in comparison. The structure was largely wooden with a fabric covering, the wing could be folded back along the fuselage for storage and the landing gear stayed fixed, on some machines with wheel fairings. It was powered by a de Havilland engine. In the second half of the 1930s machines of this type were regular entrants in long-distance flights and air races, that is in an era when civil airplanes flew routes that seem unbelievable today. The military communications and training Percival Proctor was later derived from the Vega Gull.
Short-run plastic calls for patience: clean up the mating surfaces, dry-fit the model and glue the joints in stages. On a subject with so much glazing the cabin is visible through it, so it pays to finish it before the fuselage is closed. Mask the glazing and paint in this order: the frame, the interior tone, the exterior finish. A wooden structure with a smooth covering means that civil airplanes tended to have a gloss finish, and gloss is merciless to an imperfect base; polish the surfaces and sand the filler back before the finish. Apply the decals of the civil registrations onto a gloss base and secure them with a decal softener so that they settle into the engraving.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
