1:48 Polikarpov I-16 Rata - Stalin's Falcons on I-16

Polikarpov I-16 Rata - Stalin's Falcons decal set 1:48 (ROP o.s.)

A standalone decal set (aftermarket markings) on the theme of Stalin's Falcons on I-16 in 1:48 scale from the Czech publisher ROP o.s. It holds waterslide decals, national insignia and personal markings, for the Soviet Polikarpov I-16 fighter, nicknamed the Rata. It is an accessory for a model, NOT an airplane kit: you use the set on your own I-16 kit in this scale.

The subject

The Polikarpov I-16 was a Soviet monoplane fighter of the 1930s with a short, stocky fuselage and retractable landing gear. In Spain its enemies gave it the nickname Rata (rat), while the Republicans called it the Mosca. The term Stalin's Falcons was used for Soviet military airmen of the day; the set offers markings for period machines that will bring a collection of Soviet prewar and early wartime aviation to life.

Use

• dip the decal briefly in lukewarm water and let it release from the backing
• slide it onto a gloss surface on the model, prepared with varnish, and position it
• use a decal softener so that the decal settles into engraved lines and onto the curve of the fuselage
• once it has dried, coat it with clear coat for protection and to even out the sheen

This is a standalone decal set. The airplane model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package.
