It is not an aircraft kit but a resin accessory in 1:48 scale from the Aerobonus figure range by Aires. Going by its name the set contains two things at once: a figure of a Soviet fighter pilot and an ejection seat for the MiG-19 Farmer. The combination makes sense above all on models with an open canopy, where the cockpit is visible and the production plastic seat part tends to be simplified.
Resin holds crisper detail than injection-molded plastic, so the seat usually has readable straps and buckles and the figure the folds of a flying suit and its equipment. The parts are attached to casting blocks, which you cut off with a fine saw or a cutter, leveling the face with a file. Before painting, wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent, otherwise the paint will not hold on the remaining mold release agent. They are bonded with super glue; ordinary cement for plastic does not attack resin. Always try the seat and the figure dry in the cockpit first, because the dimensions of cockpit tubs differ between kits and sometimes the sides or the floor have to be sanded down.
The pose of the figure is fixed by the casting and cannot be altered, so try it in the seat before gluing. The easiest procedure is to paint the seat and the figure separately and join them only once painted. After a primer, lay down the base tones, pick out the recesses with a dark wash and the edges with a dry brush, so that the shape stays readable in 1:48 scale even through the glazing of the canopy. The straps and buckles are worth finishing with a fine brush at the end. Even the surface out with a flat varnish, and only the leather elements can be left slightly satin.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
