A resin accessory set from Aires in 1:48 scale, made to raise the detail of the plastic kit of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.V fighter. It is not an airplane model but an aftermarket accessory. The set contains precisely cast wheel parts and masking film, which makes it easier to separate the tire from the hub cleanly while painting.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.V was among the most widespread variants of this British fighter of the Second World War. It was powered by a liquid-cooled Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine and the aircraft was marked by its characteristic elliptical wing. Wheels with a period tread pattern are a conspicuous feature of the landing gear.
First wash the resin parts to remove any mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Protect your airways while sanding. Stick the masks supplied onto the tire, spray the hub with an airbrush and peel them off once dry; you get a crisp edge with no brushing over by hand.
This is an accessory for a kit. The aircraft model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
