An injection-molded plastic kit of the German light field car Pkw.K1 Type 82 (Kübelwagen, VW Type 82) in 1:35 scale from Meng, in the Eastern Front version. The model faithfully captures the characteristic angular open body and the sectioned chassis of the vehicle. The package also includes vinyl (soft) tires and several marking options. It is a classic injection-molded kit: the parts are cut from the sprues, cleaned up, glued and painted. The Volkswagen Type 82 Kübelwagen was a German light field car of the Second World War, derived from the design of the people's car. It was one of the symbols of the German army: a simple, light and dependable vehicle used for liaison, reconnaissance and transport tasks. Its rear-mounted air-cooled engine and low weight gave it decent going across country. Besides North Africa it was used extensively on the Eastern Front, where it had to face mud, dust and frost.
First assemble and paint the chassis and drivetrain, the engine and the interior of the car before you close the body, because once it is finished there will be no access to them. Glue the parts with a thin modeling cement for plastic and fix the vinyl tires with cyanoacrylate. Apply a primer and the base color with an airbrush, and apply the decals over a gloss coat. Pick out the panel lines and the detail with a wash, and apply pigments to the fenders and the underside of the body for convincing mud and dust effects matching service on the Eastern Front.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
