A decal sheet in 1:48 scale for a model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Spitfire is a British single-seat fighter, and its Mk.IX version was created as a quick answer to the German aircraft that the older Spitfires could no longer match. It is told from the earlier versions at a glance: the nose is longer and the propeller has four blades. The letter c in the designation points to the so-called universal wing, which allowed the armament to be made up of cannons and machine guns in several combinations, so two aircraft of the same version could have a different number of barrels. The Mk.IX was among the most widespread Spitfires and flew with British and Allied units alike.
This is a stand-alone decal sheet for a model in 1:48 scale, that is an accessory for a kit rather than the kit itself. Which particular aircraft, national insignia and lettering the sheet covers, and to what extent, is given in the manufacturer's instructions enclosed.
The decals are of the wet type. Cut the item out as closely as possible, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until it starts to slide freely on the backing paper. Apply them over gloss varnish, because on a flat surface a silvery film forms under the decal film. Slide the item into place, soak the water away with a cloth from the center toward the edges and draw it into the panel lines and up to the rivets with a decal softener. Finally take a covering coat of varnish over everything, which levels the edges of the film with the surface.
A decal sheet is supplied. The kit, paints, varnishes and decal softener are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
