Techmod 1:48 Swirl Camouflage is a sheet of waterslide decals with which an intricate camouflage pattern with a swirled drawing is carried over onto a model without having to be sprayed with an airbrush.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of waterslide decals from the Polish manufacturer Techmod in 1:48 that carries onto a model a camouflage pattern made up of a swirled drawing led in spirals. It is not a kit or a paint — it is a decal sheet that replaces laborious masking and the spraying of an irregular pattern. The pattern is laid down in parts on a model painted in a single shade and covered with a gloss coat.
Irregular swirled patterns are among the most demanding tasks in painting a model. With an airbrush they can be reproduced only with a fine nozzle, low pressure and a steady hand, and any mistake practically cannot be put right except by spraying the whole area again. A decal sheet replaces this part of the work: the result is even across the whole area, repeatable and above all predictable. The set comes in useful as well when you need to repeat the same pattern on several models with the same result. The particular shades, the dimensions of the sheet and what type of aircraft it is meant for are given on the manufacturer's packaging.
The base has to be smooth and glossy, otherwise air will be caught under a large area of film. A large decal is best divided into smaller logical parts, which settle more easily around edges and transitions. Work with a large quantity of water, line the piece up and only then draw the water off gradually from the center toward the edges. Press the bubbles out with a soft cloth, and on stubborn spots pierce the film with the tip of a scalpel and press down. Apply the softener in a thin layer and do not move the decal any further until it has dried. Finally close the area with a matte coat, which will bring the decal into line with the rest of the surface.
This is a separate set of decals. The model, paints and clear coat are not included in the package.
