Flyhawk 1:700 photo-etched parts for the hoisting gear of the Königsberg 1940 will replace the coarse plastic components on a ship model.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for ship modelers in 1:700 scale from Flyhawk. The set holds photo-etched metal parts for the hoisting gear of a model of the German light cruiser Königsberg as she was in 1940, that is for the cranes and arms with which the boats were lowered to and raised from the deck. It is cut for the kit from the same maker, which has to be bought separately. The difference between a plastic and a photo-etched crane shows on a finished model even from a meter away, because the silhouette stays thin.
Light cruisers carried boats on deck, and the boat cranes belonged to their characteristic silhouette. In 1:700 scale these structures have sections so thin that injection-molded plastic cannot capture them: the part would have to be several times thicker than the real thing. That is why on demanding builds they are replaced with photo-etch tenths of a millimeter thick, which gives a model the right fineness of detail.
The set is meant for experienced modelers. The ship kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
