This item is not a model or a kit — it is a set of self-adhesive masks that a modeler uses while painting a plastic kit of the battlecruiser HMS Invincible in its 1914 condition. The masks are pre-cut to the shape of the areas that are to stay in a different color from their surroundings, so the tedious cutting of masking tape directly on the model falls away. In 1:700 scale that is substantial help: masking the small deck areas and the transitions on the hull by hand is slow and the result tends to be inaccurate. Flyhawk is a Chinese manufacturer focused on ship accessories.
HMS Invincible was the first unit of the class of the same name and the first ship of the battlecruiser category. It combined main-caliber artillery of 305 mm in four twin turrets with higher speed and thinner armor than the battleships of the period had. The designation 1914 refers to the condition of the ship at the beginning of the First World War.
Apply the masks onto a perfectly dry and degreased finish. Always press the edges of a mask down properly with a toothpick or a wooden stick — insufficient pressure is exactly the most common cause of paint creeping under. Spray the paint in several very thin coats and aim perpendicular to the surface, not under the masked edge. Before you lift a mask off, let the paint set but not cure completely; it then comes away more cleanly. Take it off slowly, at an acute angle back over itself. A color transition that blurs even so should be repaired with a fine brush before you lay the decals.
This is an accessory for modelers, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
