Nine turned metal barrels of 203 mm caliber in 1:700 scale replace the plastic barrels of the main battery of the American heavy cruiser of the San Francisco type. It is a detail accessory to a model, not a kit. It is made by the Polish brand Aber.
The American heavy cruisers of the interwar generation carried nine guns of 203 mm caliber in three triple turrets. It was precisely this caliber that the treaty limits of the day set as the upper bound for cruisers, and it shaped their whole design. Units of this type were among the hardest-worked ships of the American fleet in the first years of the Pacific war and bore the brunt of the night gunnery actions around the Solomon Islands. The set distinguishes the San Francisco type from the related form, because the shape and length of the barrels differed between the individual groups of ships.
On triple turrets what matters above all is that the barrels point the same way. Cut off the plastic barrels, level the face of the turret with a file and drill three holes. Seat the metal barrels dry and only once you have checked the alignment should you fix them with a drop of cyanoacrylate glue. Degrease the brass with alcohol before painting and go over it with a primer for metal. Lay the American naval shades on thinly so that the muzzle of the barrel does not fill in and stays legible.
This is an accessory set for a model, not a kit of a ship. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
