A complete set of turned metal barrels in 1:700 scale covering both the main and the dual-purpose battery of the German heavy cruiser at once. The package holds eight barrels of 203 mm caliber and twelve barrels of 105 mm caliber. It is not a kit of a ship but a detail accessory. It is made by the Polish brand Aber.
The German heavy cruisers of this class carried eight guns of 203 mm caliber in four twin turrets and a dual-purpose battery of twelve guns of 105 mm caliber in twin mountings along the sides of the superstructure. They were large, well-protected ships with a striking silhouette and extensive electronics. The Prinz Eugen went down in history for taking part in the sortie into the Atlantic alongside the battleship Bismarck and later for the Channel Dash; as one of the few large German units she survived the war.
The set deals with two different calibers at once, so sort the parts out beforehand so as not to confuse the small 105 mm barrels with the larger ones. Work from the large turrets to the dual-purpose battery. Always cut off the plastic barrel, level the surface and drill a hole for the pin. Glue the metal parts with cyanoacrylate glue once the alignment has been checked. The dual-purpose guns along the sides of the superstructure easily end up mismatched in angle — compare them against each other. Degrease the brass with alcohol before painting and go over it with a primer for metal.
This is an accessory set for a model, not a kit of a ship. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
