The A-10 Thunderbolt II is an American single-seat twin-engine aircraft intended for close air support of ground troops. It is characterized by the combination of a large straight wing, two turbofan engines housed in nacelles on the sides of the rear fuselage and a massive 30 mm rotary cannon installed lengthwise in the nose. The design is deliberately laid out for survivability: the cockpit is protected by an armored bathtub and a number of systems are duplicated. The A-10C version is a later upgrade with thoroughly reworked avionics, new displays in the cockpit and the ability to work with precision guided munitions.
Glue the model with a thin cement for polystyrene, which wicks into the joints and leaves the surface clean. Before painting it is worth laying down a filling primer, because uniform gray schemes show every scratch and every imperfect joint without mercy. Mask the canopy glazing precisely, and with two-tone gray camouflage it pays to spray from the lighter shade toward the darker one. The decals of a special edition always belong on a gloss coat, otherwise a matte veil stays under the film. Fit the weapon pylons and the external stores last, so that they do not fall off while you handle the model.
