Dead Design 1:72 A6M2/3 Reisen/Zero is a set of self-adhesive die-cut masks for the glazing of the cockpit of the Japanese carrier fighter in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a kit but a modeling accessory. The manufacturer Dead Design supplies precisely die-cut self-adhesive masks, which cover the clear areas of the cockpit and leave only the framing uncovered. Once the paint has been sprayed and the masks taken off, the edges of the frames stay straight and sharp, without fraying and without the paint running under the edge.
Cutting strips of masking tape by hand for the small, rounded frames of a cockpit in 1:72 scale is slow and the result tends to be irregular. The masks are die-cut to the shape of the glazing, so they fit the part and draw the frame the same width every time. The material holds on smooth clear plastic, but it can be taken off without remains of adhesive and without the risk of tearing the varnish away.
Degrease the glazing before sticking the masks on and let it dry out completely. Transfer the individual pieces with tweezers or the moistened tip of a toothpick and press them down from the center toward the edges, then push the edges home with a blunt tool. Apply the paint in several thin coats, because a heavy coat will form a visible step under the edge of the mask. Take the masks off as soon as the paint has set, not after it has fully cured.
This is an accessory for a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
