The AH-1S is an attack helicopter of the Cobra family, recognizable at first glance: a very narrow fuselage, the crew seated one behind the other, skid landing gear and stub wings with pylons. Under the nose it carries a movable turret with a gun, and the power comes from a single turboshaft engine. In Japan this type flew with the Ground Self-Defense Force and was its main anti-tank force.
The model is unassembled and unpainted. A narrow fuselage forgives little, so sand the contact surfaces before gluing and join the fuselage halves gradually, so that no step is left anywhere. Paint the cockpit interior before you close the fuselage up. Leave the skids for the end, so that the model does not rest on thin legs while you work. Fit the rotor blades only once the painting is finished, as they are easily knocked and a repainted edge shows.
The cockpit glazing is long and broken up, so it pays to apply the masking tapes before spraying and only then to put the paint on. The shade and the layout of the markings are given in the manufacturer's instructions. Paint the pylons and the turret separately, otherwise the transitions between them and the fuselage will be lost.
Paints, glue and filler are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
