Responsibility details are not available.
A decal set from the Polish maker Toro Model with the markings of BRDM armored scout cars used by the Polish army. The box holds waterslide decals for a model in 1:72 scale. It is neither a kit nor a finished model; the set serves for marking a model that has to be obtained separately. The designation volume 1 means that this is the first part of a range on this subject.
The BRDM is a family of armored scout vehicles of Soviet design. They are wheeled amphibious machines with light armor, intended for reconnaissance, liaison and patrol duty, and later marks also appeared in versions carrying anti-tank guided missiles or special equipment. The vehicles spread to a number of Eastern European armies including the Polish one, where they served in various versions and with different tactical markings. For the modeler it is exactly that variety of numbers and insignia that is interesting, as it lets several specific machines be built even from a single kit.
Paint the model and spray it with a gloss varnish; on a matte surface a decal silvers. Cut the motif out as close as possible and dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds. Once it releases, move it into place with a damp brush, because in 1:72 scale the decals are small and tweezers easily damage them. Blot off the excess water and apply a decal softener so that the motif settles onto the sloping surfaces of the hull. Let it dry thoroughly and only then varnish the model with a matte coat and add the weathering. If the decal goes on after the basic dusting, the result looks more natural than clean markings on a dirty vehicle.
The set holds only decals. A model, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
