An Andean Mirage in jubilee dress

The Peruvian Air Force acquired supersonic Mirage machines in the mid-1980s, and No. 412 Squadron celebrated a quarter century of service with a special treatment of one of its machines. The real subject of the sheet is the example with the number 060 in its form from the turn of 2010 and 2011.

The colors and their distribution

South American fighter Mirage machines carry sober gray shades, on which the jubilee elements stand out all the more. The festive artwork concentrates on the vertical tail surface and is completed by the national insignia with a red and white field. Before you start on the markings, have the graduated gray areas finished and dry, because under a thin film every later intervention with a brush gives itself away.

Jubilee schemes have the property that the main motif runs along the whole height of the fin and passes over the hinge of the rudder. If you want to deflect the rudder, divide the artwork exactly at the dividing seam, otherwise it will crack across when bent.

What will make the work easier

• A gloss intermediate layer applied in two thin passes holds better than one thick one.
• The artwork on the fin is settled from the top down, so that the air can escape down the slope.
• The small service lettering has clearly given positions relative to the fairings on this type; do not distribute it by eye.
• Wipe the remains of adhesive off with a damp cloth once dry, otherwise they will go matte under the final varnish.

This is a separate printed sheet, not a complete model. Obtain the kit, the paints and the varnishes separately. The Spanish spelling of the count of years in the name corresponds to the fact that it is the anniversary of a South American unit, and it does not clash with the form of the machine in any way.
