Flat tailplane for the Beaufighter Mk.I and VI in 1:72 scale — a resin conversion set from the Czech manufacturer AML for a faithful build of the early versions of the British heavy fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin conversion set from the Czech brand AML deals with one of the main recognition features of the early versions of the Bristol Beaufighter: the horizontal tailplane without dihedral. The set replaces the relevant kit parts with castings of the flat tailplane, so from a standard kit you can build a faithful Beaufighter Mk.I or Mk.VI in 1:72 scale. It is an accessory for a kit, not a stand-alone aircraft model.
The Bristol Beaufighter was a British twin-engine heavy fighter of the Second World War powered by Bristol Hercules radial engines. It proved itself as a radar-equipped night fighter, as a ground attack aircraft and as a torpedo bomber over the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. The early Mk.I and Mk.VI versions were marked out by the flat horizontal tailplane, and the pronounced dihedral came only with the later variants to improve longitudinal stability. Anyone who wants to build an early version needs exactly the flat tailplane that this set supplies.
Wash the castings in warm soapy water before gluing to remove any mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a sharp knife and sand the marks down; always protect your airways when sanding resin. Glue the parts with cyanoacrylate glue, try the joint with the fuselage dry first and fill any gaps with filler.
The accessory is supplied as unpainted resin castings and requires a base kit of the aircraft. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
