A set of color-printed seat belts for the cockpit of a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 E series fighter aircraft in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory that replaces plastic or etched belts with a more faithful color motif. The belts are printed on decal paper, so they are applied in the same way as an ordinary decal – they are cut out, soaked in water, lifted off the backing paper and laid onto the seat and the cockpit frame. The exact composition of the sheet and the number of sets on it are not stated here; follow the enclosed instructions.
The Bf 109 E series was a single-seat all-metal fighter aircraft with a liquid-cooled inverted V12 Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine and an angularly framed canopy. The individual versions of the E series differed from one another above all in armament, equipment and the ability to carry stores. The cockpit was very tight and the seat with its belts is clearly visible under a slid-back canopy, so it is precisely on the belts that the level of finish of the interior shows.
First go over the surface of the seat and the frame with gloss varnish – the decal will then adhere better and no silvered edges will appear. Cut the part out as tightly as possible, soak it in warm water for just a few seconds and move it into place with a soft brush. Fine-tune the seating with decal softener, which pulls the belt down onto the unevennesses of the seat and onto the buckles, and let it dry thoroughly. At the end a matte varnish and light accenting of the buckles with a dark wash come in handy.
The package holds only the belts; it is not a model of an airplane. Glue, paints, varnishes and decal softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
