1:72 Boeing B-17G

The real subject

The Boeing B-17G is the final and most numerously built version of the American heavy bomber of the Second World War. It is told from the earlier versions by the chin gun turret under the nose and by the fully glazed forward section of the fuselage. The machines were built in their thousands and the individual bomb groups set them apart with colored bands and insignia on the tail surfaces, which makes the choice of decals a substantial part of the build with this type.

What the sheet contains

Decals for a model of the B-17G in 1:72 scale. You will find the list of machines covered, the number of schemes and the exact placement of the elements on the model in the instructions that are part of the package.

Application tips

Prepare a smooth glossy base; on matte clear a decal takes hold badly and a haze is left around the film. Cut the element out close to the edge, immerse it for a few seconds in lukewarm water and let it rest on a paper base until it starts to slide. Transfer it to the model with a soft brush, bring it into place and draw the excess water off with a cloth. Over rivets and panel lines softener will help, drawing the film down into the relief. Once completely dry, go over the model with matte clear coat.

Who it is for

For modelers who want to use markings on a B-17G model other than those their kit offers, and for those who build several machines of the same bomb group.

Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is not a self-adhesive form; soaked self-adhesive film is ruined beyond recovery.

The package contains a decal sheet. The kit, paints and clear coats are not included, unless stated otherwise.
