This item is a sheet of decals for 1:72 scale, not a kit of the aircraft. The Hungarian brand HAD models issued it for models of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighter in the A-8 version with the R2 field conversion set. The sheet serves to finish a model with markings and lettering; the model itself, the paints and the glue have to be obtained separately.
The Fw 190 A-8 was one of the most numerously built versions of this German fighter. It was powered by the air-cooled BMW 801 twin-row radial engine, which gave the type its characteristic short, wide nose. The R2 designation stands for a factory conversion set (Rüstsatz) in which the outer 20 mm cannons were replaced by 30 mm weapons. The larger caliber meant greater effect against large targets, but also a lower muzzle velocity, a smaller ammunition supply and poorer flying qualities because of the weight and drag of the underwing gondolas. Machines in this configuration were used by units assigned to fight bomber formations.
In 1:72 scale most of the designs are small and the thin film folds easily. Prepare a gloss, smooth surface, or small lettering will create a silvery border. Cut the designs from the sheet with a scalpel close to the printing, so that as little carrier film as possible is left — in a small scale a clear rim is the most conspicuous thing. Leave a decal in the water only until it can be moved, and carry it over together with its backing paper. Position fuselage letters and markings using the engraved panel lines as a guide; check them by looking exactly square from above or from the side, not at an angle. Once they are dry, seal the decals with varnish, or a wash could run underneath them.
