This detail set replaces the exhaust nozzles from the box with faithful parts in the closed position in 1:72 scale. It is a 3D-printed resin aftermarket set from Reskit for experienced modelers. The closed position matches the state of the engines on the ground with the powerplant shut down, and 3D printing captures the petals and the internal structure faithfully in a way plastic from the box cannot reach.
The F-14A Tomcat is a two-seat carrier-borne fighter with variable-geometry wings, powered by a pair of jet engines. Its widely spaced engine nacelles and prominent exhaust nozzles, whose diameter changes with the engine setting, are characteristic. Closed nozzles are typical of a parked aircraft on the deck or the ramp.
Wash the print resin residue off the parts, cut away the print supports and clean the parts up. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate); wear respiratory protection while sanding. Spray the nozzles in metallic shades and build up the heat staining with glazes; the inside can be brought out with highlighting and pigments.
This is a detail accessory, not a standalone model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
