This item is not a kit but a resin detail accessory. The set replaces the engine exhaust nozzles on a model of the Grumman F-14 Tomcat in the B and D versions, in 1:72 scale, in the open position with the segments spread. Resin allows thin walls and legible definition of the individual segments, which is usually simplified in injection-molded plastic. Before building, check that the parts match the kit you have.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was a twin-engine carrier-borne fighter with a variable-geometry wing and a crew of two seated in tandem. The F-14B and F-14D versions got different powerplants compared with the first production variant, which showed on the outside in, among other things, a different design of the exhaust nozzles. That is exactly why accessories of this kind are made separately for the early version and separately for the later ones; when choosing it therefore matters to know which machine you are building.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and clear them of mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc, go carefully on the thin-walled nozzles and keep checking that they stay round. Sanding is done wet and with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The nozzles are among the most heat-stressed parts of the airframe, so metallic shades with a graded cast toward blue, brown and straw suit them; the edges of the segments can be brought out at the end with graphite or a dry brush.
This is not an aircraft model but an accessory for one. The parts are supplied unpainted; the base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
