Vacuum-formed Nakajima Ki-44 canopy 1:72 (Rob Taurus) is a clear replacement for the cockpit canopy of the Japanese fighter, with thin walls.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory, not a model, for aircraft models of the Nakajima Ki-44 Shoki in 1:72 scale. The canopy is drawn from thin clear film by the vacuum forming process, so it has finer walls and greater clarity than the injection-molded part from the box. The package usually holds several pieces, giving a choice of the open and the closed position or a spare piece.
The Nakajima Ki-44 Shoki (Allied designation Tojo) was a Japanese army fighter of the Second World War with a radial engine. Unlike the agile but slower machines of its day, it was designed as a fast-climbing interceptor meant for defense against bombers. The framed sliding cockpit canopy is characteristic of the type.
Cut the canopy out with a sharp scalpel close to the outline and sand the edges down finely. For maximum gloss the part can be dipped in gloss varnish. It is bonded with clear PVA glue or, very carefully, with super glue, so that the fumes do not dull the plastic. The frames are masked and sprayed at the end.
This is an accessory, not an aircraft model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
