A kit of the Japanese Nakajima Ki-43-III Ko Hayabusa fighter in 1:72 scale. The Allies used the reporting name Oscar for this type.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa was one of the most widespread Japanese fighters of the Second World War, and its name means peregrine falcon. The Allies listed it under the reporting name Oscar and at first mistook it for the naval Zero. It was a light single-seat machine with a radial engine, built for agility: in a turning fight it was among the best anything could meet, but it paid for that with weak armament and a slender airframe. The Ki-43-III version is the final development branch of the type, and the letter Ko distinguishes its subvariant.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, so glue, paints and basic tools are needed to finish it. The number of parts, the contents of the package and the color options offered are given in the manufacturer's instructions, so read them right through after opening the box and only then reach for the first part.
Separate the parts with sprue cutters at a distance and clean the remainder up with a file, so that the edge of the part is not damaged. Try the assembly dry first, above all the joint of the wing with the fuselage. Paint the cockpit before you close the fuselage, because you will not get into it later. A light base under the color evens out the shade of the surface, which varies on small parts. Japanese machines of the late war period tended to be worn on the leading edges and at the walkway areas at the wing root, so suggest the wear there rather than evenly over the whole surface.
For modelers who build Japanese aviation in 1:72 scale. Paints, glue and filler are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
