The Petlyakov Pe-2 masking set 1:72 is a set of pre-cut masks for the extensive glazing of a model of this twin-engine bomber. It is not a kit but an accessory for a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This masking set from Artillery models is intended for a model of the twin-engine Petlyakov Pe-2 bomber in 1:72 scale. The airplane model is not part of the package. The Pe-2 is among the types on which masking pays off most: it has a glazed nose, a long cockpit canopy and further glazed areas, so outlining the frames by hand with a brush is slow and only rarely comes out clean. The extent of the set is stated on the packaging of the set.
The Petlyakov Pe-2 was a Soviet twin-engine all-metal airplane of the Second World War period, used above all as a dive bomber and, in further versions, for reconnaissance and as a heavy fighter. The design came about by reworking an original high-altitude fighter project. It is marked by a slim fuselage with a glazed nose, a pair of liquid-cooled V engines and twin vertical tails. It was built in large numbers and during production went through a series of changes to its armament, cockpit and equipment, which shows up on models as differences between the individual production batches.
Degrease the glazing carefully before masking and dry it. Lift the masks off with tweezers and lay them into the frames one at a time, always pressing the edges down with a toothpick. On the glazed nose it pays to work panel by panel and to keep checking whether the mask overhangs anywhere. Spray in thin coats and take the paint off while it has only just set. Protect any uncovered parts of the glazing with liquid mask.
The package holds the masking set only. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
