Photo-etched parts for a model of the F-104A Starfighter fighter in 1:48 scale. They add thin detail that plastic is too coarse for.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-104 Starfighter is one of the most striking aircraft of its day: a long slender fuselage, short thin wings with a sharp leading edge and a high-set horizontal tail surface. It is powered by a single turbojet and the machine was built above all for speed and rate of climb. The F-104A version is the first production form for the US Air Force.
Photo-etched parts for the F-104A model in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch is thin sheet, so the parts have a thickness close to reality; it suits everywhere a plastic part looks like a plank seen from the side. What exactly the set covers and where the individual parts go is given in the manufacturer's instructions, so read them through before you start gluing the fuselage.
Back the part with a hard surface and separate it with a sharp blade in a pull, not by twisting. Make the bends over a straight metal edge, ideally in a bending tool; hold small pieces with tweezers and keep a tray under your hands so that they do not disappear. Choose cyanoacrylate glue and use a minute amount. Before painting, wash and degrease the photo-etch and apply a thin coat of primer, otherwise paint will not hold on smooth metal.
For a modeler who wants legible detail on the Starfighter even after clear-coating and does not mind working with parts the size of a fingernail. It is not an ideal choice for a first photo-etched set in your life; for a second or third one it is. The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
