A prop for dioramas and for models of military vehicles in 1:35 scale. SX-Art lists this variant of the 200 liter drum as type 3 and makes type 1 and type 2 alongside it. What exactly sets the individual renditions apart is not stated here.
For storytelling dioramas a support area is more rewarding than the combat line itself. A ramp, a makeshift fueling point, a pile of containers by a workshop or just a few vessels stacked around the corner of a building can build a whole story around one vehicle. The drums also work as a height break between figures and vehicles, so that the scene does not look flat. Six pieces are usually enough for one corner of a base.
The vessels were given color stripes and lettering according to their contents, so a decal or a hand-painted stripe moves the set up a class at once. Smooth the base under a decal with a gloss coat, otherwise white haze will appear under it. At the end subdue the lettering with a light patina so that it does not look fresh. If you are unsure of the markings, it is better to reach for a neutral stripe without text. The combination of one lettered piece with five unmarked ones also works well, because the eye will settle on exactly that lettered one.
