Printed deck covering 1:350 for the French battleship Dunkerque from Print Scale is an accessory for a finished Hobby Boss kit rather than a model in itself.

This is an accessory for a ship kit in 1:350 scale, not a model. The set replaces the plastic deck with a printed imitation of wooden planking and thereby solves one of the most demanding parts of building a ship: painting hundreds of planks with a brush so that they look uniform and yet not monotonous is many hours of work, and the result tends to be uneven. A printed deck, by contrast, gives a uniform pattern in one go.
Dunkerque was a French fast battleship of the 1930s. A hallmark of the class was the concentration of the main gun armament of 330 mm caliber into two quadruple turrets ahead of the superstructure, so that the stern was left clear. That is exactly why the ship has large continuous areas on deck, which are difficult to paint on a model and where the difference between a printed and a painted deck shows most.
The set is cut for the Hobby Boss kit, so before you buy, compare which kit you are building. The base has to be flat, clean and degreased; remove all raised features, pads and excess plastic beforehand, otherwise the covering will ripple. Lay the parts on dry and try their position, and only then fix them. Work from one edge to the other and press the air out with a soft cloth toward the outside. The color tone can be fine-tuned once glued on with a weak wash or filter, which will bring out the seams between the planks. At the end it is worth evening the surface out with a matte coat to match the other areas of the model.
This is an accessory, not a model of the ship. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
