Assembly: preparing the surface so that glue and paint hold

Figures pressed into a mold carry residues of mold release agent on the surface. It cannot be seen, but it reliably lowers the adhesion of glue as well as paint, and it shows only after several days, when the coat starts to peel at the bends. Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent before work, then rinse them and let them dry out completely; after that touch them through a tissue or with gloves on. On soft castings a flexible primer in a thin layer, applied by spraying rather than with a brush, proves itself well. A heavy layer of primer floods the fine relief of the faces and the hands.
