The set from the maker Kits-World is a full-color decal with a three-dimensional layer for the instrument panel of a Spitfire kit in 1:32 scale. According to the name it covers the early Mk.I, Mk.II and Mk.V versions, whose layout of the panel is close to one another. The dials have printed scales and the surface a relief, so the individual instruments stand out from the panel; with a purely analog cockpit, where gauge stands beside gauge, that is the greatest difference from hand-painting.
The Spitfire is a British single-seat fighter aircraft with an elliptical wing, built in many progressively modified versions. The early variants have a cockpit without any electronics: the instrument panel is fitted with round instruments, dominated by a group of basic flight gauges arranged in a regular layout. In 1:32 scale the whole panel is large enough for hand-painted scales to be recognized at once.
Sand the cast gauges on the part from the kit smooth, otherwise the relief layer will not seat. Spray the base with a dark paint and varnish it with a gloss varnish. Seat the set with a small amount of water and press it on with a soft cloth, not by sliding it over the glossy surface. Dose the softener drop by drop; the three-dimensional layer reacts to it more slowly and brushing over it will damage it. Leave the glasses of the instruments glossy and apply the matte varnish to the surroundings. With the early versions it pays off to match the shade of the cockpit with the panel and to add a fine wash into the corners, so that the space behind the panel does not come across as flat.
Several very similar sets in various scales and versions exist for the same aircraft; choose according to the exact designation. This is an accessory for a kit, not a model on its own; a kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
