A large-format printed sheet showing the surface of Aalborg air base of the Royal Danish Air Force in the period from 1983 to 2001. It is neither a kit nor a decal but a finished base for a built model. The printed area measures 675 x 675 mm and is prepared for 1:48 scale.
The motif is tied to one station and to a clearly defined eighteen-year period, so it is a fairly narrowly focused base. That is its strength: a model can be set in a particular place and time rather than on a generic surface. In a collection it adds a Northern European strand alongside the more usual British and American motifs.
A side of 675 mm corresponds in 1:48 scale to roughly thirty-two meters of real area. A single-engine jet fighter in 1:48 therefore takes up about a third of the side and a band of free space is left around it. That matters, because a scene works precisely thanks to the empty area around the model. If you plan to display two machines, measure both footprints in advance; a pair of larger aircraft will usually fill the base completely.
This is a printed base for a model. The model and the accessories are not included.
