An accessory in 1:35 scale: concrete additional armor for the American M4A3E2 assault tank nicknamed the Jumbo.
Responsibility details are not available.
The M4A3E2 was an assault tank derived from the Sherman that was given markedly thicker armor so that it could lead a formation. Even that was not enough for the crews, however, and so they had a layer of concrete poured onto the front of the vehicle. Field modifications of this kind differed from one example to the next and are clearly visible in photographs from the end of the war. The set captures exactly that layer of concrete as a separate part to be fitted onto a model.
An accessory in 1:35 scale meant for modifying a finished kit. It replaces or covers the front part of the vehicle with a layer of concrete with a rough surface. How many parts the package holds and which kit it is prepared for are given in the manufacturer's instructions; before gluing it therefore pays to try the seating dry.
Offer the part up dry first and sand the mating surfaces as needed, so that no gap is left between it and the hull. Cut the excess material and production marks off a little way from the part with a sharp blade. Use super glue. Before painting, wash the surface, degrease it and apply an undercoat. Do not make the concrete flatly gray: shade the base with lighter and darker patches and bring out the rough texture with a dry brush, so that it is set apart from the smooth armor.
For builders of American armor who want to set a model apart with a field modification. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
