A plastic kit of the two-seat de Havilland DH-82A Tiger Moth trainer biplane in 1:72 scale. The model is made by Kovozavody Prostejov, a Czech brand based in Prostejov. The boxing subtitled International concentrates on the markings of various foreign operators, of which this type really did have a great many over its long career. The kit is injection-molded plastic and is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Tiger Moth came about at the beginning of the 1930s as a trainer biplane with a wooden and metal framework covered with fabric, powered by an air-cooled inverted inline de Havilland Gipsy Major engine. A typical feature is the upper wing moved forward and the sweep of both wings, which made it easy to leave the front cockpit with a parachute. It became the basic trainer of the Royal Air Force and of the air forces of a whole range of other countries, and tens of thousands of pilots passed through it. After the end of its service an enormous number of machines reached civil hands; they flew with flying clubs, as tugs and crop sprayers, and to this day they are among the most widespread historic aircraft in the world. That is exactly why you will come across an immense variety of color schemes on it, from restrained military ones to striking civil ones.
A biplane in a small scale means above all work with the interplane struts. Take your time, test fit the parts dry first and glue the upper wing on only once the lower part is holding firmly; a simple jig of sticks or modeling putty that supports the upper wing at the right height helps. Rigging from fine fishing line or rigging thread will lift the finished model markedly; add it only after varnishing. Do not emphasize the fabric covering with a heavy wash, but rather with light shading along the ribs. The glazing of the open cockpits is small, but the interior is clearly visible into them, so paint the seats and the instrument panels carefully.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
