This is an accessory set for a model, not a kit of the aircraft. It replaces the airbrakes of the Su-25 in the open position, that is in the state in which the machine is seen after landing or on the ramp. It is exactly the open surface that gives a static model movement and sets it apart from dozens of otherwise identical builds. The marking early version matches the earlier state of the type.
Production parts tend to be molded with the airbrakes in the closed position, and opening them means cutting and finishing off the inner surfaces. A replacement part shortens this work and holds a thinner edge than can reasonably be reached by hand. Before fitting it is a good idea to try the parts dry, to clean the surfaces carefully and to think the order of painting through, because the inside of an open brake is harder to paint once it is in place.
The Sukhoi Su-25, designated Frogfoot in the West, is a Soviet attack aircraft meant for direct support of ground forces. It is marked by an armored cockpit, a sturdy structure and the ability to operate from poorly prepared surfaces. Its brake surfaces are placed at the wingtips, which is one of its identifying features.
