Replacement wheels for a large four-engine bomber in 1:32 scale, cast with a weighted tire effect on the main tires. According to the name, the set contains two types of nose wheel, a mudguard made by three-dimensional printing and photo-etched hubcaps. Compared with the plastic wheels from the box you gain a crisper tread pattern, thinner rims on the hubcaps and, above all, a wheel with no parting line that would have to be laboriously cleaned up across the tread pattern. The set belongs to a group of variants differing in the type of tire; this one carries the type b designation in its name, so check what wheels the machine you are building had.
The B-24 Liberator was a four-engine bomber with a high-mounted slender wing and nose landing gear. The naval PB4Y Privateer grew out of it and is told apart from the bomber mainly by its single vertical tail and the longer front part of the fuselage. The large main wheels are clearly visible on a model of either type, because the retractable landing gear on a model on display is usually built extended.
Wash the resin castings in lukewarm soapy water, so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a knife and sand the area down after cutting; protect your airways when sanding resin, ideally sanding wet. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue only. Flatten the photo-etched hubcaps on a hard surface before gluing them and degrease them. Apply a primer before painting: on smooth resin it holds considerably better than paint on its own. Fit the wheels last and turn them so that the flattened area sits on the base.
This is an accessory set, not a model of the aircraft. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
