1:10 German Fallschirmjäger Eastfront 1943 is a Young Miniatures resin portrait bust in 1:10 scale. It is supplied as an unpainted casting to assemble, paint and fit to a base.

A portrait bust of a paratrooper in winter dress, cast in modeling resin in 1:10 scale. It is not a kit in the usual sense of the word: the casting is in effect a finished small sculpture and almost all the work and the final impression lie in the painting. You will manage the assembly in a single evening, whereas the painting itself tends to be a matter of several sittings.
Busts are cast in parts so that the undercut places stay legible: the head, the torso and the small accessories usually come separately. Wash the parts first in lukewarm soapy water so that the remains of mold release agent disappear from the surface, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting remnants off with a saw or a knife and never break them off. Align the mating surfaces dry and only then bond them with super glue. Fill the parting seam on the shoulder or under the collar and sand it away; with resin a fine sandpaper soaked in water works well and does not raise dust. Then unify the whole casting with a thin coat of primer, because without it the transitions of shade are hard to judge on smooth resin.
The center of gravity is the face. The skin is built from a mid flesh color through deepened shadows in the eye sockets and under the cheekbones up to the highlights on the forehead, the nose and the chin; draw the eyes, the eyebrows and the stubble last with the thinnest brush. The uniform is a contrasting task to the skin: the canvas holds a matte, slightly dusty tone, the leather webbing will take a light sheen and the metal buckles and clasps stand out with a dry brush. The final weathering unifies the whole: a dark wash into the folds and seams, dust pigment on the lower areas. Fit the finished bust to its base only at the very end, so that it does not get damaged while you work.
The bust is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue, putty and brushes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
