A set of wheels and engine cylinders for a model of the German Zündapp KS 600 motorcycle in 1:35 scale. A replacement for the two most exposed parts of a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Zündapp KS 600 is a German heavy motorcycle from the end of the 1930s. It was powered by an air-cooled flat-twin engine of around six hundred cubic centimeters, that is an engine whose cylinders stick out to the sides in front of the rider's legs. The rear wheel was driven by a shaft rather than a chain, which was a hallmark of the Zündapp K series machines. The machine served in civilian use and in the German army, where it was often ridden with a sidecar.
The package holds the wheels and the engine cylinders. It is precisely these two parts that are visible from every side on a motorcycle model and that decide whether a build reads convincingly. With the wheels it is a matter of roundness and of the tire tread, with the cylinders of the fineness of the cooling fins, which on plastic parts often merge together. A motorcycle has no bodywork behind which an imperfection could hide, so replacing these parts shows at first glance.
Cut off the excess material with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder so that the cylinder fins stay sharp. Wash and degrease the parts before painting and choose the glue according to the material of the parts; ordinary modeling cement will not hold on parts that are not polystyrene. The cylinders deserve a dark wash between the fins and a light dry brush along the edges. Do not spray a tire in pure black; a dark gray with a hint of brown looks more natural at scale.
For modelers who build German military and civilian equipment in 1:35 scale and want to take the detail of a motorcycle beyond the level of a kit. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
