The Renault D1 appeared in the second half of the 1920s as the development successor to the Renault NC line and was taken into the French army as an infantry tank. It was noted for a riveted hull, suspension with a large number of small road wheels and side covers over the running gear. The first production machines were given older turrets derived from the FT type as a stopgap, and the definitive solution became the ST2 turret with a 47 mm gun and a coaxial machine gun. Vehicles of this type served in the 1930s with units in Europe and in North Africa and were used in 1940.
In 1:100 you work with small parts, so it pays to cut them off with a sharp scalpel and clean them up with a fine file or a sanding sponge. Glue with thin cement for plastic applied on a fine brush, so that the small details are not flooded. Apply a thin coat of primer before painting and spray the paint with an airbrush in light coats. French camouflage of the late 1930s tends to be multicolored with a dark dividing outline, and in this scale it is better to suggest it in a simplified way. The weathering should be discreet, as heavy washes and pigments would visually overload a small model.
