1:72 EA-18G Growler, VAQ-131 Lancers 2022 is a limited edition kit of the carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft from Hasegawa, completed with the markings of a particular US Navy squadron.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale captures the two-seat EA-18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft. It is a limited issue whose added value is a decal sheet with the markings of the VAQ-131 Lancers squadron as they were in 2022. Hasegawa is a Japanese manufacturer known for the accurate fit of its parts and for fine engraved surface detail, so the build goes smoothly even for modelers who do not dare take on large projects.
The EA-18G Growler is derived from the two-seat F/A-18F Super Hornet and serves the US Navy for electronic warfare tasks. It is powered by two General Electric F414 jet engines. It is told from a conventional Super Hornet above all by the equipment on the wingtips and by the arrangement of stores the role calls for. Unlike the fighter version it carries no internal cannon; its place has been taken by the equipment for the special task. The VAQ-131 Lancers squadron is one of the units that fly this type.
Finish and paint the cockpit before you close up the fuselage. The gray shades of modern carrier aircraft come out well if you shade them subtly over the large areas, but do not overdo it. Apply a gloss clear coat before the decals, otherwise a white haze will appear under them, and once dry blend the surface with a semi-gloss or flat clear coat. Assemble and paint the stores separately and attach them only at the end. Keep service grime restrained; aircraft of this category are kept fairly clean.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
