The 1:100 Renault R40 French light tank is a kit of the French light tank in 1:100 scale from the manufacturer Zebranomodel.
Responsibility details are not available.
The kit captures the late stage of development of the range of French light infantry tanks. The 1:100 scale means a small model that is built in one evening and yet keeps the characteristic silhouette of the cast hull and turret. The model is intended to be glued and painted. Check the composition of the package, the number of parts and the material with the manufacturer.
The Renault R40 derived from the widespread light tank R35, with which it shared the overall concept: a crew of two, a cast hull and a single-man turret. The main difference lay in the reworked running gear with a different number and arrangement of road wheels, which was to improve behavior across country. Some machines received a longer 37 mm gun with better penetrating qualities than the original short weapon. The type was built only at the end of production, so considerably fewer were made than of the basic R35.
The cast hull and turret are what define this type, so it pays to roughen the surface lightly: stippling with solvent cement or an old brush with a little filler is enough to create the fine texture of a casting. Paint the running gear before you cover it with the fenders. Apply the base thinly so that the hatches and the vision ports stay legible. Multicolor French camouflage is done with a fine brush at this scale, and the dark dividing lines are painted in at the very end. Finish with a wash in the seams between the hull and the running gear and fine dust on the lower parts.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
