This package is not a kit but an accessory for the build: painting masks for a model of the two-seat trainer version of the Lavochkin La-5 in 1:72 scale. The masks are applied before spraying and lifted off once the paint has dried. On the two-seat version they pay off more than on the single-seater, because the glazing is longer, has more frames and cutting tape by hand for it would take many times as long.
The two-seat trainer version came from a conversion of the single-seat La-5 fighter: a second station for the instructor was added behind the original cockpit, and the extended glazing matches it. The machine served for converting pilots onto the type and for continuation training. The designation CS-95, which this set also carries in its name, belongs to Czechoslovak postwar practice, where the letter C distinguished a trainer version from a combat one. For modelers it is an attractive companion to the more common single-seat machines of the same family.
Degrease the base and let it cure. Press the masks down around their whole edge with a blunt point, and on the long glazing work pane by pane rather than the whole run at once. A proven method is to spray the edge of the mask first with the interior color and only then with the top shade, so that any slight seepage does not show in the result. Spray in thin coats and lift the mask off shortly after the paint has become tacky, pulling it away at an angle to the side.
The package contains masks only. The model, the paints and the glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
