This is not a model of a motorcycle but an add-on set intended to improve a kit in 1:12 scale you have already bought. On a motorcycle model the front fork is one of the most closely watched places: the polished sliders are visible from every angle and any imperfection of surface or shape shows at once. A replacement set deals with that assembly through more accurate parts and a finish that is hard to achieve on the part from the box.
The Yamaha YZR-M1 was Yamaha's works prototype for the top class of road racing world championships. Machines of this category are not derived from production motorcycles but built purely for racing, which shows in the chassis as well. The front suspension consists of an inverted telescopic fork of large diameter with surface-treated sliders, held in massive yokes.
Protect the polished surfaces from fingerprints: work in gloves or hold the parts by areas that will not be seen. If you are going to paint anything, degrease the surface first, as paint will not take on smooth polished parts without preparation. Dry-fit the fork assembly before the final gluing and check that the wheel runs true and the model stands straight. Level any mating surfaces, because a small inaccuracy in the angle of the fork shows on a finished model.
