An injected plastic kit of the Honda CX500 Turbo motorcycle in 1:12 scale by Tamiya. The model is about 180 mm long and offers a finely rendered turbocharged engine. The package contains plastic and rubber parts, vinyl tubing for the brake lines and cables, metal screws for mounting the wheels and the front fork, and quality water-slide decals.
The Honda CX500 Turbo was the world's first series-produced turbocharged motorcycle, presented in 1980. The liquid-cooled V-twin was fitted with a turbocharger and computer-controlled fuel injection, so the 500 put out around 82 horsepower. It was produced only very briefly, which has made it a prized rarity.
Use a liquid modeling cement on the plastic. Assemble and fine-tune the frame and the engine before fitting the fairing. A final gloss varnish protects the chrome and glossy surfaces, and the decals should be applied to a smooth surface. The one-piece fairing can be lifted off even after assembly to reveal the detailed interior.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
